The Environmental "G-O-A-T

… I’m the greatest environmental problem solver of all time

Ali wasn’t scared to tell people he was the greatest. I’m not either.

How have I become the greatest environmental problem solver of all time?

  1. Faith. I have a gargantuan amount of faith. Probably 1 million times more than the average person. That’s why I see the world so different. Most see impossibility. I see God. I find that because I’m not making my initial cut based on what seems humanly possible to me at the moment vs. what’s possible in God’s eyes—the initial number of potential environmental entrepreneurial opportunities goes up astronomically. That’s why faith is by far my greatest environmental entrepreneurial talent and the skill I spend the most time trying to hone.
  2. Augmented Human Intelligence. My brain simply can’t store and access petabytes of environmental data to find and evaluate entrepreneurial opportunities. Our investment in artificial intelligence and big data tools is augmenting our intellectual capabilities on a grand scale.
  3. Training and Suffering. As Mohammad Ali said, “I run on the road long before I dance under the lights.” My time at Vinson & Elkins, Baker Botts, reforming the Clean Air Act, teaching at the law school, and working as an environmental profession to understand environmental problems and develop relationships has been akin to doing 10,000 push-ups. I’m stronger, tougher, and more connected than I’ve ever been.

I’ve now become the greatest environmental problem solver of all time. And with greatness comes responsibility.

---“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”- Mohammad Ali
